A Directory of Websites from Around the World

Tag Society features websites from around the world by displaying snapshots of websites and the tags (keywords) that describe them. Clicking on a tag beneath a website listing displays other websites that belong to that tag as well. We review each website to maintain the quality of the websites within this directory. Please see our FAQ to read more about what may not be accepted. Currently, only about 60% of websites submitted pass the qualifications and are accepted. We also perform random checks on websites listed to ensure they still meet the qualifications.

Our Definition of 'Quality'

We strive to keep the quality of the websites listed in this directory at a higher level. The definition of a 'quality website' can have different meanings to different people. For the purpose of this directory, TagSociety.com defines a quality website as one that demonstrates the following:

1. The website must be functional, free of errors, and work properly in most major browsers.
2. The website must have valuable, unique content that is not duplicated or mirrored on other websites.
3. The website must have a sufficient amount of content. For instance, a blog that only has 2 posts will not be listed.
4. The design of the website should be average to above average and not confusing or chaotic.
5. The website cannot contain content that is illegal, harmful, sexually explicit, offensive, or hateful.
6. The website should not have more banner ads than it does content.

These are just a few of the things we look for, but there are more reasons why we may not accept a website described in our FAQ section. We also try to ensure that websites already in the directory still meet the qualifications by performing random checks, but if you come across a website in this directory that seems to fail these qualifications or that has inappropriate content, please use our Report Abuse form to let us know.

How the Directory Works

There are 7 main categories, with tags assigned to the websites listed within each category. The websites are ordered in each category and on the main page under "Showcase" by the amount of listing points* that site has at TagSociety.com. Websites receive 1 listing point for every website that they refer to TagSociety.com that is accepted to this directory. You can also purchase up to 50 points with your submission to start out with points right away. Each listing point costs $1 (US Funds). Your Visibility
Tag Society is still growing, and as the traffic to the site increases so will your visibility to the world. This is how your visibility works for each section:

• Category Pages: Your website will be added to its appropriate category and ordered by the amount of points it has, and then ordered by when it was added to the directory - oldest first and newest last.
• Tag Pages: In addition to your main category, your website will also be listed under two tags (keywords), first by the amount of points it has, and then ordered by when it was added to the directory - oldest first and newest last.
• Main Page: When a new website is added, it is displayed on the main page of this directory under "Recently Tagged" and if your listing is among the 56 with the highest points, your website will also show up on the homepage under "Showcase".
• Random Page: This page randomly selects 64 websites to display from all of the websites on Tag Society everytime the page is visited or refreshed.
• Featured Page: This page is reserved for websites that selected the "Featured" option in the submission form and are ordered by their listing points among up to 88 of the other featured sites. The websites from this section are also pulled randomly and displayed in the "Featured" sidebar across the directory.

Process
If your website is accepted, you will receive a notification email with a link to pay for the listing points you selected to start out with. After your Paypal payment has cleared, your listing will be added to one of the main categories that your website falls under and then you will be assigned two tags that best describe your site (which we create based on the description of your site). So if you own an Italian restaurant in Dallas, you may be in the "Visit Them" category and your two tags may be something like "italian food" and "dallas". This means that beneath the 70x30 pixel snapshot of your site there will be links to your two tags. When someone clicks on any "dallas" tag within the site, it will take them to a page with all websites that have been tagged "dallas" and yours will also be on that tag's page. The position of your listing in each section you are listed in depends on the points you have earned.

We have the right to reject a submission for any reason. Your website may not be accepted to this directory if it contains content that is too controversial, sexualy explicit, hateful to a person or group of persons, violent, dangerous to the public, or some other reason listed in our policy. Your site will also be rejected if it is a domain squatter, a domain that forwards to another domain, if it contains intrusive popup ads, links to websites that are offensive, or if the website is broken, under construction, unfinished, or if the website is not user-friendly or confusing to the visitor. TagSociety.com has the right to reject a website for any reason.

*Listing points are only displayed for websites that link to TagSociety.com. If a website that is listed in this directory removes their link to TagSociety.com, their listing points will be removed and their position will fall to 0 in the directory results. In addition, a website can be removed at anytime, with listing points or not, if that website is deemed offensive or misleading or for any other reason. Please see our policy for more information.
